Chevrolet is GMs primary brand, and was one of the leading proponents of the muscle car during the 1960s.  As the manufacturer of such iconic cars as the Camaro and the Corvette, Chevrolet had very early carved itself out a position next to Ford as a pioneer in automotive technology.  These technologies made its way down to the muscle cars of the era as their sales numbers were ever on the rise.
