Exterior car care?
The Man asked:
I have a classic car that was painted two years ago. The car has been hand waxed two or three times since and is garage kept. It has only been out of the garage maybe a dozen times since it was painted.

I want to detail it up real good for a show this weekend. Should I pick up a clay bar and go over it or would it not make much of a difference since the paint is so new?

a clay bar is not going to do very much for you unless there is some tiny defects of the paint. I personally would get some good liquid compound wax and go over it one panel at a time with a buffer at about 2700 rpm putting the wax on by hand so you hit all parts, when done wash the car all over again to get the dust and access wax spray off, make sure to dry real good this will also help with the buffing swirls, then i would go over it again with a liquid high gloss wax by hand and take it off with a microfiber towel which you can pick up at any auto place. even wall-mart. this will give it a great lasting shine while the compound wax gives it a better base coat for longer lasting protection from dirt, dust and water. you also may want to look for what is called a California duster so when you get to the show you can re-clean off any dust from sitting there i always bring a bottle of liquid anti-static spray-wax with me to wipe it down and only use micro fiber towels so it does not scratch the paint from any road grime.

At this point I would use liquid glass on it.
