niceguy1987 asked:

it's a manu. ls6 engine m22 transmission thats been sitting in my neighbors garage since before I was born(1987) more dusty and normal rust spots. Is it wroth buying for 3000$ dollars or is the rust repair not wroth it.
Am pretty sure it's ls6 because he told me he bought the high package directly from the dealer in late early 1971 when he in the army.As far as those research goes hes a old man who belive me when I say would know a desktop from a microwave.I've seen it does have ss badging but its this weird powder green color and like I said it been parked in garage for 30+ years he got in a job related accident that left him legally blind even know he can see shapes objects reading out of the question.

    muscle car

Yes, the rust repair would be worth it. Chevelles are nice cars and when fixed up bring 10K and more…. nice Muscle cars too.

If it’s a Chevelle with a 454 LS6 engine and a M22 4-speed like you say then it’s worth about 60 grand as a complete rust bucket. It’s probably an LS5 454 which were more common and you’re mixing it up. Is it an SS? If it’s a factory LS5 car, then it’s definitely an SS. A restored ’70 Chevelle SS 454 LS5 with a 4-speed can be worth about 35-40 grand.

Other then some rust spots, does it have a full interior and complete engine, etc? If so, your neighbors are selling a car that’s potentially worth 10-15 grand for 3 grand. Why can’t I have neighbors that sell muscle cars without researching their value first?

OK, my first question is are you lying about this? I hope this is a joke because otherwise you are a VERY lucky kid because an old guy might sell you a $60,000 car for 3 grand. I think you should tell him the truth about the car’s value because he’s the one that bought it and kept it all these years, and it’s not fair that you can cash out on it. I know that might be a very hard thing to do but have a heart and think about how a sale like that could contribute to this old man’s future.

Opinion aside, this is how you can tell if it’s a real LS6 car or not.

    1) What does the air cleaner say? An LS6 car will say “454, Turbo-Jet, and 450hp” on the air cleaner.

    2) What kind of carburetor does it have? An LS6 car will have a Holley carburetor and an LS5 will have a Rochester.

    3) How many main bolts does the block have? A LS6 will have 4 and a LS5 will have 2.

PLEASE e-mail me with what you find. He didn’t show the car to any other car guys or anything? I just can’t believe he’d make a decision like that. Do the right thing.
