question to shut my friend up, do you think a 1987 monte carlo ss is a true blue muscle car or not?

mr_discovery_channal asked:

hello, i'm posting to prove to my friend that a Monte Carlo ss is a true blue muscle car, he keeps saying cars in the 60's and 70's were only true blue muscle cars.. but I believe a 87 monte carlo SS is a true muscle car as any other... do you agree with me or what?

An ’87 Monte Carlo SS is a bad-ass muscle car! In fact, it was the car of choice for many Honolulu Police officers in the late 80′s and early 90′s.

nice car but not exactly a true blue muscle car IMHO mid 60′s-early 70s was the muscle car era what you have is a post era muscle car

True Blue Muscle Cars WERE from the 1950′s -1960′s-1970′s ONLY. Like the 1957 Chevy or the 1965 Pontiac G.T.O. or the 1969 Chevy S.S. or 1970 Dodge Charger R.T. 1971 Pontiac Trans AM with 400. Those were Muscle Cars.

As a sports car you’ve gotta give it its due, but I don’t think it can quite be put up there with the muscle classics. Personally, I think the ’70 was an even more awesome model, but I’m kinda a ’68 Chevelle guy.

    Sorry, no.

The emissions equipment on the motor alone remove it from the ‘true’ muscle car bracket.

The 305HO was a FAR cry from the 350′s,396′s, and 454′s of the muscle car era.

Looks good but once you have had to work on the compuerized quadra-jet carb you’ll think otherwise. For it’s time era it may fall in close but, will never overshadow or compare to the 60′s and 70′s. Besides, how many are really left in good working order anyway?

TRUE Muscle car …NO! some muscle Yes.. If you’re talking muscle in the mid 80′s then you have to take in the fact that the V-8 just got shot down buy gas prices…again! It had all the right stuff, 4 barrel TBI carb, dual exhaust, raised hood line ,sport rims and two doors but it also had pollution control, rev limiters 4 speed auto, a/c and every power option on a build sheet. True muscle cars had a horse power to weight ratio greater then anything the GM machine put out in the 80′s. Turbo’s and inter-coolers made up the missing horse power but added big bucks to a cylinder starved V-6. The Olds 442 (W-30) Buick Grand National and the Pontiac Grand Prix of the mid 80′s all tried to be muscle cars but looking like a muscle car is all they could do.
