Nope…won’t hurt it at all. It will however cut your power steering and power brakes. So just becareful doing it. It will act differently than you are used to. But I do it all the time. Doesn’t hurt a thing.

So long as the car was/is not rolling when you attempt to put it into park.
No harm, no foul.

Not directly, however, it is not an adviseable thing to do. When you shift the car back to park while the engine is running you allow the transmission to release the drive gear while the transmission is under full pressure and operation. If you turn the car off first, the pressure will drop right where it is. When you start the car again in park it will take a couple of seconds for the transmission to “catch” while it repressurizes the system.

yes, that will be not very good idea!

nope when you think you are shifting into park its no different than changing the radio its all electronic i cant actually describe it but my off road specialist told me that when my truck wouldnt shift correctly so shifting into park after you engine is off wont hurt anything at all

It won’t hurt anythng at all. In fact, lots of cars when driven on cheap gas will spark-knock and try to keep running (known as dieseling) after the key is turned off. If you have this problem it will stall the engine for you if you do shut it off in gear and then shift to park. Contrary to popular belief, the pressure in the tranny is only for shifting in drive gears and to make the clutch packs catch and synchros. Neutral, to drive, to reverse, to park is a mechanical action which doesn’t require any pressure on the tranny. When you shut off the electrical system it turns everything off and stops the computer from transmitting signal to most systems on the auto. Turning the key on resets most systems although on some vehicles it is possible that turning off the key first will send a signal to the computer that the trans is still in gear. This still should be reset as the key is turned to the on position and shouldn’t hurt anything. The computers that run the transmissions mainly work with the engine to determine shift points by checking vacuum, rpm, speed, and things like that every second or two.
