Very unlikely that you will find even a shell/bare body for only $1500. In todays market musclecars are getting very rare and hard to find in any kind of condition. Remember that even the newest 1960 era musclecar would be a 1969 is already 40 years old. I would suggest going with a car from that time other then the most popular ponycars ever built. Try a Nova and Falcon. I have seen plenty of those cars in that price range. As long as they aren’t a “collectible” model, such as an SS or Sprint. I recently sold 1 fender that I had off a wrecked 1971 Dodge challenger for 1800.00. Granted it was in perfect condition, but just shows what people are willing to pay for original Musclecar parts, and if they will pay that for parts, you can see why these cars are so Expensive.

I find a lot of cars sitting in back yards and under tarps next to homes. All you need to do is be nice and ask if they have considered selling. Sometimes you get lucky. Ebay is a “dry well” for bargains any more. People have gotten greedy. Craigslist still has some occasional good deals but you need to look often and be ready to pounce when you find something. Despite what some others here have said there are still some who will sell for a reasonable price. I find deals and pass them on to people looking for projects without trying to make a bunch of money because I think it helps the hobby grow.

You have a motor? For what? And it’s Camaro. Your not going to find such a thing. The day of the $1500 Muscle Car died over twenty years ago. You might find something for around $5000 but it will be a basket case.

If you’re really lucky you might find something at a car auction. Other than that check the newspaper or junk yard.

Even a complete basket case will cost you more than $1500. Muscle cars are highly collectible and even rolling rust buckets demand high prices.

For $1500 I wouldn’t expect more than a broken down junk yard dog.

    Look on Craigslist.org

Always one of my favorite questions. Except this time, all you’re wanting is the shell/body. Usually, it’s “I want a (fill in blank with ’60s muscle car here) and I only have $1500, it has to be in perfect running shape, HELP!”

In your case, Mccoy is right. Those have all reached the point to where values are high, even for broken-down sh**boxes. You “could” up your years a bit (to the mid-to-late ’70s), and possibly find something.

Example: The other day, I saw a ’71 Cuda body (no hood or trunk, straight, rusted a bit, interior was shot) sitting in a field. I asked the farmer how much he’d take for it, he looked me dead in the face and said, “If you don’t have $5,000 in your pocket, take a hike.”

Try craigs list! They have searches that will just search in your area! It’s pretty awesome!
