in the ihra there are some pro stocks that are naturally aspirated and they run high 6′s but that about as fast as a naturally aspirated car can go with the technology we have

Theres a car over here in Australia that runs in Pro Street Unblown (no turbo charger, no super charger, no nitrous oxide) class built by Trick and Mansweto and driven by Tristan Ockers.

Its a 1969 Ford Capri with a 604ci Ford motor that runs 7.41 @ 185mph over the 1/4.

It is in the Pro Street catergory which allows extensive chasis mods (tubs, 4 links etc) but as far as being a “street car” if you drove it to the shops it would overheat and any cop would defect it on the spot.

This is probably what they were referring to. A Camaro that pulled a trailer 1000 miles and ran 7.64 seconds in the 1/4 mile.

Well, a new corvette z06 7.0l runs 1/4 in 10.85 seconds. Unlikely that a naturally aspired american muscle car would be at the finish before the vette gets half way. For a standard 1969 Camaro does the 1/4 in roughly 12.75 sec.
